Bin Laden niece in glamour shots

In yer face binladen! I wonder how that feels. I wouldn't like my sister (or my kids for that matter) to do this, or worser. But it's kinda rough justice in a Karmic kinda way. Click for BBC Article - Bin Laden niece in glamour shots

Why the Aeron chair sucks

The pricey designer Aeron chair is a nice-looking bit of techno kit. But is it any good? The guys at Dack.com think not.

Make sure you watch the videos (they're funny)... and the comments have some interesting banter about the pros and cons of farting in an Aeron chair.

Bad vibrations

Surfers around the world are in despair. It's the end of the surboard.

The company that makes the polyurethane core for nearly all surfboards has been forced to close because of environmental regulations. The chemicals used to make the lightweight body of the board cause illegal emissions during production.

They'll have to go back to using wooden boards. Then the tree huggers will come out against them. Poor surfies.

Foreign media take more pot shots at Singapore

Last week it was hanging, this week it's maid abuse. Singapore's image has been taking a media thumping recently.

This week the BBC are highlighting a report by Human Rights Watch called "Maid to Order - Ending abuses against migrant domestic workers in Singapore". The report explains that Singapore's foreign domestic workers do not get the same legal protection as Singapore nationals and cites evidence where this inequality has lead to abuses. However...

"The authors say Singapore is by no means the worst offender in the region, but they argue that this tightly controlled city state could improve conditions very easily, giving many thousands of vulnerable women greater control over their lives."

I reckon Singapore is well placed to take the lead on this in Asia. As for the pot shots... it's all part of becoming a member of the 'Developed Nations' club. Let's see how the Singapore media handle this one.

Christian youths reveal racy Bible calendar

Some German christians are releasing a bible calendar with nude depictions of scenes from the bible. Coooool!

Anne Rohmer, 21, wearing garters and stockings, posed on a doorstep as the prostitute Rahab.

"We wanted to represent the Bible in a different way and to interest young people," she told news agency Reuters.

"Anyway, it doesn't say anywhere in the Bible that you are forbidden to show yourself nude."

Woo! Yay!

High pitch teen scarer

This guy in Wales has invented a gizmo that repells teenagers. It emits a high pitched squeal that only teenagers can hear. They can't bear the noise, so they move out of range.

Apparently, if you're over 30, your hearing is already screwed up enough for you not to notice the squeal.

It's designed to stop kids from hanging outside shops and scaring away their hearing impaired elders.

Great idea. Give that man Nobel peace prize! Click for New York Times article

American Edit - shut down

Copyright lawyers have shut down a site I linked to a few days ago. The site had some great mash-ups of Green Day's 'American idiot'.

In case you don't know, a mash-up is when you mix two or more tunes together to create a whole new tune - mashed up. The one I liked the most on this site was 'American idiot' mashed up with the tune from Dr Who and some old Gary Glitter. It was pretty cool.

But why the copyright problems? It's not as if listening to these tunes is going to stop people from buying the originals, is it. No, it's more like a bunch of music execs flexing their muscles and saying "This art is illegal because it displeases us". They're so out of touch - and that's why music today sucks.
