Bert Jansch - Blues Run the Game

Jackson C. Frank - Bert's version from the vid:

Catch a boat to England, darlin',
Maybe to Spain,
Wherever I have gone,
Wherever I've been and gone,
Wherever I have gone
The blues run the game.

Maybe tomorrow,
Someplace down the line,
I'll wake up older,
So much older, baby,
Wake up older, darlin',
And maybe stop all my crying.

Living is a gamble,
Loving is much the same,
Wherever I have played,
Wherever I throw those dice,
Wherever I have played
The blues run the game.

Maybe tomorrow,
Someplace down the line,
I'll wake up older,
So much older, baby,
Wake up older, darlin',
And maybe stop all my crying.
X2

Catch a boat to England, darlin',
Maybe to Spain,
Wherever I have gone,
Wherever I've been and gone,
Wherever I have gone
The blues run the game.

---

I guess he left these verses out, cos he's stopped the booze:

Send out for whisky, baby,
Send out for gin,
Me and room service, honey,
Me and room service, babe,
Me and room service
Well, we're living a life of sin

When I ain't drinking, baby,
You are on my mind,
When I ain't sleeping, honey,
When I ain't sleeping, Mama,
When I ain't sleeping
Well you know you'll find me crying.

I saw him twice when he was too drunk to play (sadly), but I still went back. I saw him once when he was sober and it was easily worth the two drunk gigs. I'll always go back for him. He's the best. And this is the best version of Blues Run the Game, by anyone. Legend.

Bert Jansch "Black Waterside"

Trad arr. Bert Jansch.

One morning fair I took the air
Down by black waterside
T'was a gazing all all around me
That the Irish lad I spied

All through the fog, dark of the night
We lay in sport and at play
Till this young man arose and gathered his clothes
Singing 'Fair thee well today!'

That's not the promise that you gave to me
When first you lay on my breast
You could make me believe with your lying tongue
That the sun rose in the west

One morning fair I took the air
Down by black waterside
T'was a gazing all all around me
That the Irish lad I spied

---

Not sung here:

And so go home to your fathers garden
Go home and await your fill
And think on your own misfortune
That you brought with your wanton will

One morning fair I took the air
That hung about black waterside
T'was a gazing path all around it
And the Irish I spied...

GTA 4 = fail, sadly

I'm sad to say it, but Rockstar Games have failed. GTAIV is just not as good as the previous games in the series. Rockstar Games made such a good job of making GTAIV more realistic than GTA3, Vice City or San Andreas, that it's become too realistic and isn't fun to play.

I thought it was just me, but I'm not alone. This guy says it all: Click for GTA 4 Vs GTA fan - How Rockstar ruined GTA

Games don't have to be realistic to be fun. Games are fun because they're games. They're analogies, fantasies, approximations. The closer they become to reality, the more we start to question them. I questioned GTA4 more than I had fun playing it.

Rockstar should have stuck to their old format and re-used the old (fun) content and gameplay. They should have re-purposed the old games as MMOs. If they'd turned them into MMOs, they would have made a fortune. If they continue this way, the series is going to die.

I've played GTA1&2, finished GTA3 twice, finished Vice City three times (loved it), and finished San Andreas once (the best of the lot). I had high hopes. I was a big fan of the GTA series, but I can't really recommend GTA4 to anyone.
