Rant about the future of torrents

Mark Pesce rants about the future of Bit Torrent in this article. He argues that Hollywood's MPAA are digging their own grave by closing the server-based torrent sites like Suprnova and Torrent Bits. He explains that banning these sites is a direct challenge for coders to create a better P2P solution. (Banning P2P file sharing didn't work before, it just made the technology better.) He says it's only a matter of time before some smart geek makes a file sharing system that doesn't need a torrent tracker site on a server. Click here for the article (on Susan Mernit's Blog)

Personally I'd rather buy movies on dvd and use bit torrent to watch the latest tv shows or other stuff that I can't find in the shops here. In fact, Bit Torrent seems particularly suited to catching the latest tv shows. Movies? Nah. Can't be bothered.

Perpetual Ocean Gallery

I've been looking for a new desktop image and remembered that I'd found some choice ones from this site. Lovely. They don't get in the way of your desktop clutter (if any). They're also rather calming. Truly great work. w00t
